In 2014, the Boston Red Sox signed Yoan Moncada from Cuba to a $63 million contract to be a superstar in the Major Leagues...but not just yet. Moncada won't turn 21 until May of this year and still has a ways to go to get acclimated with the Minor leagues before he can start terrorizing the AL East. As part of his progression, Moncada is expected by many to start out the 2016 season right here in Salem, Virginia.
Moncada finished the 2015 season strong in Greenville, the Red Sox low A affiliate, so the next logical step in his development would bring him to Salem. This will give the fans of the Salem Red Sox a great chance to come out and see what could be the next superstar in a long line of Red Sox greats.
