Roanoke City Mayor Bowers and Pete Eshelman with the Roanoke Regional Partnership welcome our Holiday Media Tour participants at the Roanoke Star & Overlook Journalists training their story ideas on the Blue Ridge region’s rail heritage

Happy New Year! As we look back at 2011, the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau (RVCVB) is grateful for many accomplishments including the public relations initiative.  The Bureau hosted over 60 qualified journalists resulting in a wealth of media coverage in a number of outlets across the country from the Miami Herald to NPR in Sacramento to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Toronto Sun.   "These results have increased the visibility of this region in so many ways," said Landon Howard, Executive Director of the RVCVB. "Our goal for 2012 is to target our feeder markets and influence readers to choose the Roanoke Valley as their vacation destination.  With mountains of possibilities for 2012, stay tuned for more media coverage as well as a brand new look for Virginia’s Blue Ridge."
