For those traveling by rail, the new SmartWay Bus Connector provides shuttle service to the Amtrak Train Station in nearby Lynchburg. Adding to the convenience, convention hotels, Roanoke Civic Center, Salem Civic Center, & The Conference Center of Roanoke are all no more than 8 miles from the airport and within 5-15 minutes driving time.

Recent Additions
Many of the properties in our area have plans for future development regarding meeting space, and some of them have completed recent renovation projects. In the heart of downtown Roanoke, the recently completed renovations of the Historic City Market Building included Charter Hall, a fantastic new meeting space that can accommodate up to 350 people with over 5,000 square feet of space. Another recent addition involves one of our most iconic hotels, The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center. The hotel recently completed a $200,000 renovation to its Garden Courtyard, making the area a very attractive option as an outdoor meeting space. Also, residents of the Valley are excited and proud of the newest branch of the Roanoke County Public Library System. The beautifully designed South County Library opened in December 2011 and provides over 4,000 square feet of meeting space, which can accommodate up to 360 guests And with additions being planned at properties such as Hotel Floyd and Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, the future is bright for meetings and conventions in Virginia's Blue Ridge.
