From whimsical and outlandish displays to elegant and traditional designs, visitors of the 2012 Fashions for Evergreens, the Christmas tree competition that is the centerpiece of holiday celebrations at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, a DoubleTree by Hilton


Hotel, will be inspired by the glamorous trees and gather ideas from professional decorators for a truly memorable holiday season.


Now in its 14th year as a competition and fourth year raising monetary donations for The United Way of The Roanoke Valley, Fashions for Evergreens celebrates the holidays with a unique tree display featuring more than 27 professionally designed trees.


"We are proud to support and partner once again with the United Way this year," said Gary Walton, general manager of The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center.  "It's the season for giving and this event allows the entire community and guests of the hotel to support a great cause this holiday season."


The event runs from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Day and is free and open to the public.



Throughout the month of December, the historic Regency Room at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center is offering an elegant, upscale buffet to complement the holiday festivities occurring throughout the month of December. Monday - Saturday, Executive Chef Billie Raper is taking traditional signature items and bringing them to the luncheon buffet line.


The December lunch buffet will feature She Crab Soup, Mulled Apple Cider, festive holiday drink specials and a build your own dessert bread pudding station.  $18 per person; $12 children 6-12; Children under 5- complimentary and under, gratuity and tax not included.


On Sunday's, The Regency Room will continue the traditional, award-winning Grand Buffet Sunday Brunch from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m., featuring a rotating menu of breakfast and lunch favorites, including a live action carving station and a made-to-order omelet station.

Two times are available for seatings at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m, free pictures are offered with Santa with each adult ticket. Children's entertainment will be provided by Broadway performer Hope Harris.

After a successful 2012 Tea Dance season, the hotel is offering one final dance for the holidays on Sunday, December 16 from 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. Dancers are invited to celebrate and dance to the beat of the season. The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center is the place to be on New Year's Eve, hosting the annual charity ball for the Preceptor Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, an international women's friendship network.


The event, open to the public, costs $175 per couple. Ticket price includes a strolling buffet dinner for two, seating in either ballroom, live music and dancing, champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight.


All proceeds benefit local charities, including the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity and programs that support pediatric AIDS patients and wheelchairs for children. A special overnight room rate with breakfast is being offered at $122 (double-$142).
