RVSPCA Pet Costume Contest and Coca-Cola's Snow Zone:  6pm-10pm

The holidays aren't just for humans! Dress up your pet(s) and come and join the fun and laughter at the annual SPCA Pet Costume Contest that will take place on Salem Avenue. This year's event will be made special by the involvement and enthusiasm of the Roanoke Valley SPCA and their volunteers. Boxes will be decorated and ready to accept donations of pet food to benefit the SPCA's Pets Eat Too program. Registration for the SPCA's Pet Costume Contest begins at 6:00pm.

Dreaming of a white Christmas? Dream no more! It will be snowing in downtown - at least on the last night of Dickens! Bring your mittens and pull on that stocking cap and prepare to zoom down the ramp in this winter wonderland. The Coca Cola Snow Zone is guaranteed to delight even the grumpiest Scrooge!

Free, family-friendly event includes favorites like roasted chestnuts, carriage rides, street performers, and more! Featuring the RVSPCA Pet Costume Contest.

History Museum of Western Virginia

Saturday, December 21st:

10am Santa Sing-a-long

Again this year the History Museum of Western Virginia is offering Santa's Sing-A-Long. A specially designed event for toddlers age 0 - 3. This program is a shorter, interactive experience which includes singing, dancing, and storytelling.

Saturday, December 21st

11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm Fantasyland

In a warm, comfortable setting in the History Museum's Library, Santa, dressed in his green shirt, suspenders, and lace up boots, with his coat hanging on the rack by the fireplace mantel, welcomes visitors into an inviting atmosphere. The children sit on the floor getting to know Santa at their own pace. Santa teaches important lessons of love, sharing, history, and more as he tells stories, sings, plays guitar or piano, and interacts with the children through fun activities. His Christmas tree is adorned with special ornaments that he shares with the children at the end of their visit to put on their own tree at home. Visitors also get to see Santa's very own 200-year old sleigh. And there are other exciting surprises awaiting.

Sunday, December 22, 2-4pm - Yuletide

The History Museum will host a yuletide party for Santa as we send him off to the North Pole to begin his World Tour. This is a separate ticket event and is designed for entire families, especially those with older children who love to come back and "see the real Santa," but feel a bit too old for his regular programming. It will include a concert with Santa's own musical group, the Figgy Pudding Band (fresh from the North Pole).
