Don't be part of the large group of Americans who let their vacation days go unused. Take advantage of this new guide from the Virginia Tourism Corporation that will help you #CrushFridayVA and spend a long weekend in Virginia's Blue Ridge!
Two staff members from the Commonwealth's tourism office visited the region recently to check out a variety of experiences that can make for a fun weekend getaway to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge Public Relations Department assisted with securing lodging, dining, and things to do.
The itinerary is featured on the Virginia Travel Blog in the post titled "Crush Friday: Your Mini-Vacation Guide to Roanoke and Virginia's Blue Ridge."
Based on the things mentioned in the itinerary, a long weekend in the region could include experiences like riding bikes on the Roanoke Valley Greenway, cheering on the Salem Red Sox, wake surfing at Smith Mountain Lake, and hiking at Roaring Run.
Here's an excerpt from the section about biking on the Greenway:
"Rent your ride from Underdog Bikes, a full service bike shop located along the Greenway in downtown Roanoke. They’ll hand you a helmet, prep you with basic instructions on operating your bike, and get you on your way with simple directions for the trail’s nearby access point. The Greenway follows the Roanoke River for miles, providing a scenic backdrop for your biking route through the city, and several other trails branch off from the downtown area, resulting in over 30 miles of biking trails for you to explore."
Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge is a participant in the Virginia Tourism Corporation's Crush Friday campaign, which focuses on encouraging Millennials to take a break and make the most of their vacation.
