The iconic salvage store Black Dog Salvage is highlighted in a new article on the Parade Magazine website.
The article was written by Tamra Bolton, who visited the region as part of a media tour hosted by Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge.
The story explains the unique concept of Black Dog Salvage and its popular television show Salvage Dawgs on the DIY Network, which has made it one of the most popular shopping experiences and attractions for visitors to the Roanoke Valley in Virginia's Blue Ridge.
The following is an excerpt from Bolton's story and experience at the warehouse:
"Full of one-of-a-kind treasures, antiques, stained glass, artwork, re-purposed items and architectural pieces too numerous to mention, Black Dog Salvage is a treasure-hunter’s dream. If you love digging through huge piles of doors, windows, wrought iron, knobs, anything and everything imaginable, this is your kind of place."
Her visit included getting the chance to meet many of the familiar faces who've become household names for fans of the Salvage Dawgs television show, including CEO Mike Whiteside and President Robert Kulp, as well as Tay and Grayson, two other regulars on the show. She was also greeted by the most popular dog in town, Sally the Salvage Dog - the adorable black lab who's the resident greeter for the store.
