Best Mid-Sized Mountain Town
Bursting with Big Ideas


Recent articles in the November 2012 issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine titled "Best Mid-Sized Mountain Town" and in the upcoming December 2012 issue of Virginia Living Magazine titled "Roanoke, A Small City Bursting with Big Ideas" (click here for a preview) claim how this region provides "world-class outdoor offerings" and how we "embrace the best aspects of larger metropolitan areas."  These stories, along with the launch of our new destination tourism brand, Virginia’s Blue Ridge, have added an elevated sense of pride in our region.

Over the last two years, the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau has focused our public relations program, with the support of our industry partners, toward making tremendous strides in gaining visibility across the country.  To date, the program has resulted in bringing in 126 travel journalists, generating a value of $1,335,665.00 in advertising equivalency.  This program has also reached a total circulation of over 103 million readers, all of whom are potential visitors.
