There are a number of different locations to watch fireworks on the 4th of July in the Roanoke Valley in Virginia's Blue Ridge.
As we celebrate our nation's history and independence, people around the region gather together to share laughs, fun, music, great food, and the American tradition of enjoying 4th of July Fireworks.
Some fireworks around the region are associated with special events, including the Salem Fair and Buchanan's Community Carnival, offering opportunities for a full evening of fun.
Bring the family and pick the perfect spot to enjoy fireworks in Virginia's Blue Ridge.
The following locations are open to the public to take part in the celebration.
2015 Independence Day Celebration
Location: Parkway Marina at Smith Mountain Lake
Time: Celebration begins at 3:00 p.m.
Experience a gorgeous waterfront view along the shore of Smith Mountain Lake at Parkway Marina while watching the fireworks. The celebration will also include music, food, and a "Kids Zone."
Buchanan Community Carnival
Location: Town of Buchanan
Time: Carnival opens at 6:30 p.m.
It's the 62nd year of the annual Buchanan Community Carnival, which features old-fashioned games and rides, along with delicious food and live music. The 4th of July festivities will include a parade and fireworks.
4th of July Independence Festival
Note - This event is on July 2
Location: Franklin County High School
Time: 6:00 p.m.
This annual 4th of July celebration will be held on Thursday, July 2, and will feature an evening of music, food, kid-friendly activities, and fireworks.
Moneta FireWORX Fest
Note: This event is on July 3
Location: Downtown Moneta
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Enjoy live music by The WORX and all kinds of fun activities, including an adult beverage garden, magician, and delicious food. Admission is $5 per person and kids 10 & under are free. All proceeds benefit the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department.
Roanoke's Fireworks on the Fourth!
Location: River's Edge Sports Complex
Time: 9:30 p.m.
Bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets as you enjoy a wonderful night of fireworks and fun at River's Edge Sports Complex. Music will be provided before the show by 94.9 Star Country and Winds of the Blue Ridge, and various food trucks will be located on-site.
Salem Fair
Location: Salem Civic Center
Time: Gates open at 12:00 p.m.
Take part in all the fun of Virginia's largest fair. Between classic rides, one-of-a-kind foods, and a fantastic setting to watch the fireworks overhead, the Salem Fair is always a nice spot for the 4th of July.
Vinton 4th of July Celebration
Location: Vinton War Memorial
Time: Begins at 6:00 p.m. | Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
Celebrate the stars and stripes on the lawn of the iconic Vinton War Memorial. This wonderful setting will also feature kid-friendly activities, live music, and festival foods.
