The Roanoke Valley has developed a national reputation for hosting great sports events. The City of Salem, also known as Virginia's Championship City, has hosted over 50 NCAA Division III Championships including football, softball, basketball, lacrosse and volleyball as well as NCAA Division II softball and lacrosse championships. For 20 years, the Roanoke Valley has been home to the Coventry Commonwealth Games, Virginia's premier amateur sporting event, a multi-sport festival of Olympic and non-Olympic style events held at numerous venues across the Valley.
Our location in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia at the southern end of the Shenandoah Valley makes the Roanoke Valley easily accessible for athletes, teams and families. The variety of hotels within close proximity to playing sites is something athletes and spectators will appreciate. Perhaps most importantly, the experienced tournament directors and facility managers in the Roanoke Valley know how to organize sporting events and will help make yours a success.
