The Roanoke River west of town is a delayed harvest trout water. Stocking occurs here from October to April. Any trout caught must be release until June 1st. Only artificial lures may be used, and bait is not permissible while fishing here. In addition to trout you’ll find other species such as bass, bluegill, sunfish, redeye and the occasional catfish. From April to October, enjoy fantastic warm water fishing and take home what you catch! Take advantage of easy access to Green Hill Park, which is very close to the main roads. Green Hill Park is one of the largest parks in Roanoke County, featuring hiking trails, ballfields, playgrounds, shelters and river access for great fishing.
