If you can't ride the entire Parkway, this is a pleasant and diverse sampler. The stretch that joins the Roanoke Valley and Rockbridge County at Buena Vista includes two of the top attractions along the nation's longest rural scenic parkway, including Explore Park and the Peaks of Otter. Of course, if you're just into natural beauty, foliage, overlooks, mountains and plenty of curves to keep things interesting, this 70-mile stretch will whet your appetite for a longer Parkway adventure. There's plenty of lodging and hospitality on both ends. Motorcycling enthusiasts tell us that Virginia's Blue Ridge is one of the best places to ride. A short, well-planned tour can allow a cyclist to visit a city, town, ride along the lakeshore and through a national forest. When it comes to giving riders what they want, we really know how to roll out the asphalt carpet. The Blue Ridge Parkway is each to reach in the Roanoke Valley via US 220 just south of Roanoke and from U.S. 460 west of Roanoke. From Buena Vista, it can be reached by traveling WEST on U.S. 60.
