Taking U.S. Route 220 north or south offers a beautiful drive through some historic and quaint parts of Virginia's Blue Ridge. South on U.S. 220 from Roanoke takes you to Franklin County toward the North Carolina state line. Route 220 goes through Boones Mill and the Town of Rocky Mount, which both offer great opportunities for antique shopping. Rocky Mount also marks the beginning of The Crooked Road, Virginia's Heritage Music Trail. It takes approximately 30 minutes to take the 25-mile drive on U.S. 220 between Roanoke and Rocky Mount.
