The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469 mile non-commercialized route in the mountains, recognized as America's longest unspoiled roadway. The primary tourist season is May through October. Camping, hiking, fishing, bicycling, picnicking, overlooks and much more. Plenty of spring and fall color to observe. The speed limit is 45 MPH. Motor coaches are allowed on the Parkway, however, short distances are recommended. The Blue Ridge Parkway begins in Waynesboro, VA at milepost 0, and ends in Cherokee, NC at Milepost 469, connecting the Shenandoah National Park (Skyline Drive) to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs parallel to Interstate 81 and Route 11. The Roanoke Valley in Virginia's Blue Ridge offers six different entry points to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
