Mountain Outdoor Adventure Weekend and Annual Wine Sale

April 19 – 21, 2013

A "Meet and Greet" reception for guests and vendors will be held Friday from 4:30 - 6:30 in the Chateau Tasting Room or on the Courtyard, weather permitting. Saturday morning, beginning at 10:00 on the Nancy Morrisette field, Ronny Dalton, Willie Bryant, and Dwayne Burnette, all three stars from the Sportsman Channel Muddy's Midwest Whitetail with Bill Winke, Southeast Show , will demonstrate and instruct in successful methods for skeet and trap shooting. This will run for several hours (or until the clays run out). Guests are asked to bring their guns and ammunition. Clay targets will be provided. On the main winery campus, Darin Gillenwater, owner of Greasy Creek Outfitters and a highly successful guide throughout the New River Valley, will exhibit and demonstrate accurate fly and spin fishing techniques, as well as advise tricks of the trade, cost effective gear purchases, fly tying and provide other information about local fishing. Skyline Stables and Winterfrost Farms will offer various guided trail rides around the Chateau Morrisette Winery. depending on the skill level of the rider, the guides will lead groups on short or long rides. Fees based on length of ride. Lee Chichester, an internationally trained master class falconer, will provide educational presentations and hands on exhibits of her two birds of prey in the sport, Cascade, a red-tailed hawk; and Crow Joe, a hybrid falcon. Lee is a freelance writer and will bring her two published works, along with sharing her experiences with the Blue Ridge Heritage, Garden and Gun Magazine and outdoor education. Guided hikes will also be offered using trails in the Rocky Knob area. Tours and wine tastings will be offered throughout the day in the TR. The Hut on the Courtyard will be open for delicious grill menu items. Friday and Saturday evening in the restaurant will feature special game menu items. This weekend kicks off our Annual Wine Sale which offers special deals and discounts on cases of wine over the last two weeks of April. For more details and fees, please visit the website.
